The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will be back in action this weekend at the Grand Prix of Catalunya, held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Official test rider Augusto Fernández will make the most of the available track time to build onto the work done at the Grand Prix of Spain to boost the Yamaha bike's development.

Montmeló (Catalonia), 13th May 2026
Augusto Fernández and the Yamaha Factory Racing Team will take part in the Grand Prix of Catalunya race weekend as a wild-card entry, with the aim of gathering data for bike development.

Fernández previously joined the full-time Yamaha teams at the 2026 Spanish GP for bike development purposes. The 2022 Moto2 World Champion and former premier-class rider (2023-2024) likes the Montmeló track. He previously scored a third place there in Moto2 in 2022. His best premier-class result in Catalonia is the 9th position he scored in 2023.

Work to create the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya began in 1989. Two years later, the track was opened and it soon became a crowd favourite after hosting its first MotoGP race in 1992. With an exciting 4.66km layout consisting of 14 corners (six left, eight right), the Catalan round is known to produce thrilling races.
