The Moto2 World Championship returns to Europe for the Spanish Grand Prix at the iconic Jerez de la Frontera circuit (4.42 km), the fifth round of the season. After missing out on points for the first time this year in Qatar, the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha squad is eager to bounce back.

For the newly-formed team, featuring Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara on Boscoscuro bikes, this marks the first return to a circuit they recently tested at—Jerez was the venue for the final pre-season tests before the season opener in Thailand. During those winter tests, Arbolino in particular struggled with severe chattering issues—a problem that also plagued both riders during the Lusail round. However, this time the team has valuable data for direct comparisons, along with the added experience from the early rounds. With a better understanding of the bikes and the riders' styles, they won't be starting from scratch when chasing the optimal setup.

Looking at past performances in Jerez, Arbolino scored a podium finish with third place in 2020 during his Moto3 title campaign, a result he matched in 2022. In 2023, en route to finishing runner-up in the Moto2 championship, he claimed a solid fourth place. His best qualifying performance at the circuit remains a second-place start in 2022.

For Guevara, Jerez holds a special memory: a thrilling victory by just 0.061 seconds over teammate Sergio Garcia in 2022, a race in which he started from pole and set the fastest lap. That triumph was the beginning of his dominant Moto3 title season, featuring 7 wins and 5 additional podiums. Both riders have shown strong form this year, particularly in Austin, so returning to a track where they’ve historically performed well adds to the optimism.

In the championship standings after four rounds, Arbolino sits 8th with 28 points, while Guevara is 15th with 12 points. The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha team is currently 6th in the team standings with 40 points.
