Repetita iuvant. After leaving the Red Bull Ring with a solid double top ten – thanks to Arbolino’s fifth place and Guevara’s ninth, both achieved after recovering eight positions from qualifying – the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha squad now faces the Hungarian challenge. Returning to the calendar 33 years after its last appearance, Hungary will welcome Moto2 to the shores of Lake Balaton for the 14th round of the season, held on the brand-new Balaton Park Circuit.
It’s a completely new track for everyone, but with its layout – not-too-long straights, many stop-and-go braking zones, and quick direction changes – it could prove particularly suitable and exciting for Moto2 machines, which don’t boast the raw power and weight of MotoGP bikes.
Guevara and Arbolino arrive in Hungary buoyed by their strong Austrian weekend. Izan, despite a heavy Friday crash that left him with a sore right hand, confirmed the progress shown in recent races, while Tony, who had closed the first half of the season with some difficulties, enjoyed a positive weekend capped by a race just over a second shy of the podium. For the team, the Hungarian GP must be an opportunity to build on that momentum and consolidate growth.
After 13 of 22 races, Guevara sits 14th in the standings with 62 points, while Arbolino is 16th with 45. In the Teams’ Championship, the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha squad currently holds 9th place with 107 points.
Hungarian GP Moto2 Schedule: Friday: 9:50 Free Practice 1, 14:05 Practice Saturday: 9:25 Free Practice 2, 13:45 Qualifying Sunday: 12:15 Race (23 laps – 93,73 km)
