The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team jumped back to work at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli today in the FP1 and the Practice session to prepare for Saturday’s and Sunday's Grand Prix of San Marino Sprint and Race. Fabio Quartararo showed good pace but ended the Practice just outside the top 10 in 12th position. Tomorrow, he will be joined in Q1 by teammate Álex Rins, who ended the day in 20th place.

Quartararo, again debuting a special rider number and gloves and boots to match in Misano, showed prowess early on, wrapping up FP1 in second place. The Frenchman featured inside the top 10 in the 1-hour afternoon Practice session going into the final stages when the time attacks commenced. El Diablo put in a solid effort, following up a 1'31.133s on his first time attack – good for a temporary fifth place – with a 1'31.090s on the second run, set on lap 26/26. But it was not enough to keep him inside the top 10. He ended the day in 12th place in the timesheets, 0.610s from first and 0.175s off a direct place in Q2.

Rins needed a little time to warm to the Misano circuit. Having ended the morning session in 18th position, he was determined to find an improvement in the afternoon – and he did. He climbed up in the live timing ranking to 13th in the first 20 minutes and held 14th place as the time attacks began. The drop in the times relegated him to 20th place after his first attempt at setting hot laps. His second try at a flying lap saw him improve to a 1'31.682s on lap 27/28, but he still finished in 20th place in the Practice classifications, 1.202s from first.

The teammates will be back in action for FP2 held tomorrow from 10:10-10:40 (GMT+2). The qualifying sessions will follow from 10:50-11:30, and the 13-lap Sprint will start at 15:00.
