The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team had a tough Race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli today. Fabio Quartararo gave it his all in the 27-lap contest as he defended his position against various rivals, but he ultimately had to settle for eighth place. Álex Rins was riding in P15, despite two long-lap penalties, when a crash put an end to his quest for points.

Quartararo started from P3 and completed the opening lap in fourth. The early stages of the Race were a copy-paste of yesterday's Sprint for El Diablo. He was unable to stay with the leading group, but he was putting up a fight for fourth. Though he had to let Pedro Acosta through on lap 6, the Yamaha man was doing a stellar job defending his 5th position against the VR46 Racing teammates again. When Acosta's bike chain snapped on lap 8, Quartararo was back in P4, but it wasn't to last. He held on for as long as he could, but between lap 15 and 18 he was relegated to eighth. It became a lonely ride for the Frenchman, who pushed to the finish line holding eighth place, 20.964s from first.

Rins had a difficult day at the office. He commenced the Race from P18 and was lying in 19th after battling with Augusto Fernández on the opening lap when he received a double long-lap penalty for a jump start. The Spaniard powered through and was still riding inside the points in 15th place when on lap 10 a sudden crash ended his race.

After today's results, Quartararo is in 9th place in the overall standings with 137 points, and Rins holds 19th position with 45 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are 6th in the team championship with 182 points, and Yamaha remain in 5th position in the constructor championship with 168 points.

MotoGP will be back in action at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli tomorrow for a one-day official IRTA test. More MotoGP action will follow in two weeks' time at the Grand Prix of Japan, held at the Mobility Resort Motegi from 26-28 September.
