The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team began their Czech GP campaign at the iconic Automotodrom Brno, using Friday's sunny conditions to gather data and refine their 2026 YZR-M1 set-ups. Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins showed early promise in FP1 but ultimately finished the afternoon Practice in 14th and 20th place respectively. Both riders will take part in tomorrow's Q1.

Quartararo made a strong start to the day with a P2 in FP1, noticing an improvement in terms of bike feeling compared to previous rounds. In the hotter afternoon session, however, getting hold of a place inside the top 10 proved more challenging. The Frenchman set a best lap of 1'52.533s on lap 21/23, placing him 14th in the Practice classification, 0.798s from first.

Rins opened the Friday in P12 in FP1 as he refamiliarised himself with the flowing layout, elevation changes, and long straights of the Czech circuit. In Practice, he didn't have the same feeling on the bike and struggled to find additional speed. Posting a 1'53.020s best result on lap 18/19, he finished the day in 20th place in the Practice timesheets, 1.285s off the top time.

The teammates will be back in action for FP2 held tomorrow from 10:10-10:40 (GMT+2). The qualifying sessions will follow from 10:50-11:30, and the 10-lap Sprint will start at 15:00.

"My feeling was better today than it was at the last two GPs, so this is the most important takeaway. I tried to stay with Pedro [Acosta], but our riding styles are very different: we arrived quite slow into the corners, and I have to brake later. So, it was not the best, but I still think my lap was pretty good. We're working on the best gear box ratio to gain a bit in certain areas. The grip at this track is good, and that's usually good for us."

"Towards the end of the session, I experienced a malfunction that I believe was related to the electronics. The team will carry out an in-depth analysis to determine whether the data confirms the sensations I felt on track. We are still far from where we want to be, but let's see what we can achieve tomorrow."
