The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team had eagerly anticipated the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Czechia, but the race ended in a double NC score. Álex Rins fell back to P18 and retired from the Race with four laps remaining. Fabio Quartararo was running in 13th position before crashing at Turn 8 on lap 2.

Rins started from P17 and held the position in the busy opening stages. With his teammate crashing out, the number 42 briefly moved up to P16, but he then entered into a battle with Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Jack Miller on lap 5 and 6. He kept chasing the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP teammates until he fell back to P18 on lap 17 due to a malfunction. The Spaniard opted to retire from the race one lap later.

Quartararo fell back at the start but was back to his P13 starting position after the opening lap. However, his charge was soon over. A crash in Turn 8 on the second lap ended his run. The French rider was unhurt, but unable to resume the race.

Today's results put Quartararo in 16th place in the championship standings with 37 points while Rins stays in 19th with 12 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are in 10th position in the team classifications with 49 points, and Yamaha is 5th in the constructor rankings with 51 points.

The team will be back in action next week at the TT Circuit Assen for the Grand Prix of The Netherlands, held from 26-28 June.

"We knew this circuit would be demanding, especially in these conditions, but we expected a better race than what unfolded today. Álex did his best in tough conditions and kept pushing until he felt a strange malfunction and then opted to return to the garage. Fabio's crash was unfortunate – he was in a position to fight for points. But the main thing is that he is unhurt. Now our priority is to analyse the data and take learnings from this weekend as we prepare for the next GP in Assen, The Netherlands."

"I retired from the race because of a malfunction. It made the riding unpredictable. I had a big gap to the rider behind me, but I wanted to avoid risks because we are always riding on the limit. So, I returned to the box. It's a shame to end the weekend like this because we are giving it our everything."

"I can keep it short. Yesterday, after the Sprint, we saw that I was not braking late enough, so today I wanted to push and try to ride the way I like to ride. My start was not so great: I lost some positions. I did overtake some people whilst riding on the limit – I overtook Brad [Binder], Maverick [Viñales] and Luca [Marini] – but it only lasted 1.5 laps."
