Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Álex Rins and Fabio Quartararo made the most of a difficult Brembo Grand Prix of Italy Saturday. Having qualified in P12 and P18 respectively, the teammates knew they had their work cut out for them. They ultimately wrapped up the 11-lap Sprint in P12 and P14.

Rins commenced from P12 but lost a position in the opening stages. As Enea Bastianini crashed on lap 5, the Spaniard moved up to P12. Luca Marini was looking threatening behind Rins on the final laps, but the number 42 pushed hard to maintain his position all the way to the chequered flag, holding twelfth place with a 17.043s gap to the winner.

Quartararo started from P18 and climbed up to P14 on the opening lap. On the second lap he lost ground to two rivals, but crashes by Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli on lap 5 moved El Diablo back up to P14. Successfully defending his position from Maverick Viñales in the final stages, he crossed the finish line in P14, 20.619s from first.

After today's Sprint results Quartararo holds 13th place in the championship standings with 37 points and Rins stays in 19th with 9 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are in 9th position in the team classifications with 46 points, and Yamaha is 5th in the constructor rankings with 40 points.

The team will be back in action tomorrow for Warm Up, held from 09:40-09:50 (GMT+2), and the 23-lap Race, which starts at 14:00.

"It's been a difficult weekend at Mugello so far. We knew that, on paper, this track would pose a challenge for us. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make the progress we had hoped for during this morning's qualifying, which meant the afternoon's Sprint was always going to be tough, starting from those grid positions. That said, both Álex and Fabio showed resilience, and they gave it their all, securing the maximum results they could achieve today. Tomorrow's Race will be even longer and just as hot. As the Mugello track is quite physically demanding, we expect it will be a hard-fought contest for our riders. The team will keep working up to the race start to keep supporting them any way we can."

"Yesterday was a good day: we were able to go through to Q2. Today we did improve our time compared to yesterday. I was pushing at my maximum in qualifying, and I am feeling well at this track, but even like this, P12 on the grid was the best we could do. In the Sprint race, it was quite difficult to manage. I got stuck behind Binder on the first lap. I couldn't overtake him, though my pace was a bit better than his. Tomorrow's Race will be tough because this track is very demanding on your arms."

"The feeling was not good in FP2, and we don't know why yet. I tried to push in qualifying and the Sprint, but I wasn't riding as close to the limit as I usually do. Of course, in the Sprint I still gave it my best effort, but I wasn't really enjoying it. I did keep Maverick behind me, but it was tricky."
