The Yamaha Factory Racing Team continued their testing plan at the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalunya today. Augusto Fernández wrapped up the afternoon Practice at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 22nd place, putting him on the entry list for tomorrow's Q1.

Focused on data gathering, the number-47 rider made the most of the dry, though overcast, riding conditions. He put in a total of 20 laps in FP1 and another 22 in the Practice and improved on his 1'41.345s best morning time in the afternoon outing. However, his 1'39.935s, set on lap 20, still had him finish in 22nd place in the Practice results.

The MotoGP action will resume tomorrow: FP2 will be held from 10:10-10:40 (GMT+2), followed by the qualifying sessions from 10:50-11:30, and the 12-lap Sprint that starts at 15:00.

"When I saw the lap time, I was happy, but because the times are so close together today, I'm still in last place. It was a difficult day, especially in the morning, to get any feeling because the grip was so low. It was difficult, but I have to say I am happy with the lap I did and with the gap to first as well as to the other Yamahas.

"This is only my second race weekend with this bike this year, and I'm starting to understand what I need to personalise this bike a bit more for it to suit my riding. Before I had been riding with a neutral setting, to suit everybody and try all the items. I'm trying to find a setting for me personally, and when I do, hopefully we can make a little step, be in some battles in the Sprint and the Race, and enjoy the race weekend overall."
