Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP All Fired Up for French GP

Following a productive Jerez MotoGP Official Test a little more than a week ago, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP teammates Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins are looking forward to the sixth round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, held at the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit in France this weekend.
Le Mans (France), 7th May 2025
Recharged after a successful Spanish GP and Jerez Test, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team are full of motivation to battle for solid results at the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit this weekend during the Michelin Grand Prix de France.

The French Grand Prix holds special significance for the team, as the fans will be rallying behind local hero Fabio Quartararo. After a spectacular pole in Jerez and a second place in the Spanish GP Race, El Diablo is fully eager to push to the limit again this weekend. The Frenchman stood on the Bugatti-track rostrum once before, having secured third place in 2021 with Yamaha. He is currently 6th in the championship standings and determined to continue the momentum from the last GP.

Following the overall positive one-day IRTA test in Jerez held immediately after the Spanish GP, Álex Rins is feeling confident for this weekend. After working on his Yamaha's setting, his goal for this round is to confirm his findings at an altogether different type of track. Le Mans was a strong circuit for the Spaniard in the lower classes: he secured a third and two second places in the Moto3 class in 2012, 2013, and 2014 respectively as well as a victory in the Moto2 class in 2016. He is keen to score some MotoGP points on French soil this weekend to climb up from 17th place in the championship order.

The Bugatti Circuit was built in 1965, just a few kilometres from the city of Le Mans. MotoGP made its first visit to the iconic French track in the late sixties, and it remained a fixture until 1996. After some safety modifications, the 4.2km-long circuit was added back to the calendar in 2000. Its layout of five left and nine right corners places the emphasis on late braking, hard acceleration, and rear-end traction, which makes for some great battles.

"The Spanish GP pole and second place shows an upwards trajectory and was followed by a successful Jerez Test. The GP held at Le Mans is one of the best organised events on the MotoGP calendar due to the great job the promoter does every year. Over the years, we have seen attendance records get broken here, and this might be an additional boost for Fabio as it is his home GP. We are really looking forward to start the weekend with the same aims: maintaining the positive trend, and our first main goal is to have both riders in Q2. It was important to get a bit of rest before the French GP because we have three busy weeks ahead of us. After the French GP, our team will have a private Misano test where we will further home in on bike development, and after that we already go to the UK for the British GP. But we are prepared to get to work!"

"I am so happy to have done a pole and a second place in Jerez before this round. Le Mans is very special to me: it's my home GP, and there will be many fans cheering for me. It doesn't matter how many times I have experienced it; I still get goosebumps when they sing the national anthem on the starting grid. But we have to focus on the job in hand this weekend. The positive results during the race weekend and also at the Jerez Test were a nice boost for the team, and I am interested to see how the new engine spec performs in Le Mans. I'm excited to get started!"

"We made a positive step during last week's Jerez Test. We will test our findings again in Le Mans. We are also riding with the new engine spec that we first tried during the IRTA test, so this GP will be very important for gathering data so we can begin the Misano private test next week with a good amount of information. I'm looking forward to this weekend. Like in Jerez, the atmosphere in Le Mans is always good because the fans are passionate, so this gives us riders a nice boost."
