On the first day of the 11th Yamaha VR46 Master Camp, the riders were joined by Moto3 rider Andrea Migno, 2021 MotoGP eSport World Champion Lorenzo Daretti, and multiple Flat Track Champion Marco Belli for respectively Pilates at the Fisio Gym, and MotoGP eSports and Flat Track training at the VR46 Motor Ranch.
Tavullia (Italy), 8th June 2022
The 11th Yamaha VR46 Master Camp students were put to the test on Day 1. They started the first day of the programme with a Pilates session at the Fisio Gym, followed by MotoGP eSport training with instructor Lorenzo Daretti (Trastevere73) and their first flat track riding Master Class at the VR46 Motor Ranch with expert Marco Belli.

Led by trainer Carlo Casabianca and VR46 Academy rider Andrea Migno, the new Master Camp pupils Passkon Sanluang (aged 19) and Worapot Thongdonmaun (aged 16) from Thailand, Aldi Satya Mahendra (aged 15) from Indonesia, MD Aliff Danial Bin Muhammad Asri (aged 18) from Malaysia, and Maiki Abe (aged 18) from Japan found Pilates a relaxing and also good workout option for the hot conditions.

After a quick lunch break, they headed to the VR46 Motor Ranch where Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Daretti was ready to introduce them to the world of MotoGP eSport using top-level MSI Gaming equipment.

Having learned about the importance of concentration and training your brain, the riders were keen to put Daretti’s tips to the test during their first Flat Track lesson. They were as taken with three-time English Flat Track Champion and two-time American and European Flat Track Champion Marco Belli as all Yamaha VR46 Master Camp visitors before them. The super likable ‘King of the Sands’ went into detail about riding position and throttle control and helped the riders adjust to their YZ250F bikes in this new discipline for them.

“It's a really good group!”, said Belli. “They adapted to the track and the motorcycle instantly. We didn't want to push them too much, because it's the first day at the Motor Ranch, which always brings up a lot of emotion, and they also came here with a bit of a jet lag.

“The first part of the training was to the point, and they concentrated really well, so they could immediately go on the Americana track. Okay, we do have to correct some mistakes they're making, but that's normal. They are young and when they start to push, they forget what we told them about technique. But overall, today was really good, so I have high expectations.”

The Pilates lesson was the first one in my life. I’m thinking about continuing with Pilates because it’s useful for my performance as a rider.

It was really fun to try eSport. But I felt it was not very easy in this version, the MotoGP eSport 2022 game.

I’m so excited to have had the experience of riding Flat Track at the Ranch. I learned how to control the motorbike and how to control the acceleration.

Pilates is really interesting and a new thing for me. It’s helps to do stretching because it increases the flexibility of the muscle mass in the zones that I use to ride the bike.

It was fun to join the eSport session, and it’s so cool! I like it. I play eSports pretty well, and it also helps me with riding the bike.

I really enjoyed the Flat Track session! I learned so much, and I tried so hard to control the bike’s acceleration, the braking system, and also changing the gears.

I had never tried Pilates before. I like a particular movement for my back that was really helpful. I’m very happy because I have learned many new stretching exercises that I will also keep doing when I’m back home. I’m so proud to train where the professional riders of the VR46 Riders Academy also train.

Yesterday was my first experience on a flat track. It was a lot of fun. I learned how to ride Flat Track, to understand its layout, and to keep the correct body position on the bike. I hope to do better on Day 2.

I practised Pilates already before, so I am familiar with it. I did try a new stretching movement for my back that I liked a lot. I’m very satisfied, and I feel strong and more confident. In fact, I have learned many new and very useful exercises.

This was my first time on a Flat Track circuit. It’s not an easy thing to do, but I’m very motivated to learn and improve.

This was my first time doing Pilates, but I thought it was a very effective exercise, and I'd like to continue to include it in my training routine.

As for eSport, this is also my first time. I think this is a good tool because you can learn where to lean on a bike and find the braking points on a circuit where you have never ridden before.

For Flat Track I think the grip of the tyres is important, whether it's a dirt track or an asphalt track. Today I focused on weight transfer and changing up my riding position.
