Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Excited to Start Round 7 in Silverstone

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team have travelled to the United Kingdom for Round 7 of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. The crew and riders are keen to rise to the occasion one week after a short but successful private test in Misano.
Silverstone (United Kingdom), 21st May 2025
After a short break following a private test in Misano, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team is looking forward to being back on track during this weekend's Grand Prix of the United Kingdom.

Fabio Quartararo is all set to step aboard his YZR-M1 once more. After having secured his second-consecutive pole and All Time Lap Record last time out, he is keen to see what he can deliver in Britain. He is currently 7th and on the hunt for championship points to climb up the rankings. The Frenchman really enjoys riding the Silverstone Circuit, as testified by his 2021 premier-class victory there.

Having walked away from the mixed Le Mans race weekend with solid points, Álex Rins arrives in the UK holding 16th place in the championship standings. He is fancying his chances of scoring good results again this weekend. The Spaniard knows the Silverstone circuit well, which is evident from his résumé. He secured second place in Moto3 in 2013 and a win in the same class in 2014. He followed it up with a second place in 2015 in Moto2, a victory in the premier class in 2019, and a second place in MotoGP in 2021.

In 2023, MotoGP moved back to the international paddock at the Silverstone track. The races are run in clockwise direction, and in the current layout Abby is Turn 1, and Club is the last. Counting 18 corners and with a total length of 5.9km, Silverstone is the longest track on the MotoGP calendar. It first featured from 1977-1986 and was added back again in 2010, but the track has a racing history of over 75 years. Thanks to innovations and investments, the circuit became one of the fastest tracks on the calendar and has earned high praise from the riders.

The schedule for the British GP differs from the usual Central European Grand Prix timetable. FP1 will take place on Friday from 11:45-12:30 and the Practice from 16:00-17:00 local track time (GMT+1). On Saturday FP2 will be held from 11:10-11:40, followed by Q1 and Q2 from 11:50-12:30. The 10-lap Sprint in the afternoon starts at 16:00. On Sunday, Warm Up will be staged from 09:40-09:50, and the 20-lap Race is scheduled to start at 13:00 local track time.

Quartararo has been penalised with a 10-minute suspension at the start of the British GP FP1 session for 'irresponsible behaviour' during the French GP Race. He will be able to take part in the remainder of the FP1 session and British GP race weekend as normal after sitting out his penalty.

"We have done some additional work between the French GP and the upcoming British GP. The track conditions were not the best on the first day of our private Misano test because it was wet, but on the second day we were luckier, so we got some more testing done, and we got good information from it. We tested some chassis settings, electric control settings, and aerodynamics as our main topics. Besides that, we also did some testing jobs for Michelin. Now, arriving in Silverstone, we are curious to see what we can achieve. It's a fast track, and there are sectors that are good for our bike. It's always difficult to predict how a GP weekend will play out, but one thing is for certain: we will give it our all to maintain our positive trajectory."

"The Misano private test got off to a slow start because of the rain on the first day. We also had bad luck in timing these tests last year, but fortunately this time on the second day we got a lot more done, and I felt good. I'm enjoying riding the bike lately, so that makes a big difference. I'm really looking forward to Silverstone, where we will give it our all once more. Let's see if here we can fight at the front again."

"After the Le Mans weekend we had one-and-a-half day of private testing in Misano. Due to some rain, we lost a bit of time, but we were still able to test what we came for. At the end of the second day, I was quite satisfied with the feeling I had on the bike. We are now in the UK for the race weekend at Silverstone, which is a very fast and quite technical circuit. I like this track, so I'm hoping for another nice weekend starting from the Friday."
