Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins engaged in tough battles during the 11-lap Brembo Grand Prix of Italy MotoGP Sprint and finished in 10th and 18th place respectively.
Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello (Italy), 21st June 2025
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins both put up a fight in the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy MotoGP Sprint. They ultimately took the chequered flag in 10th and 18th place respectively.

Quartararo had a good start from P4 and found himself battling with the front riders before closing out the first lap in fourth place again. Riding defensively, El Diablo was able to keep various rivals at bay until lap 5. Despite his best efforts, he dropped down the order over the last 7 laps. He ultimately finished just outside the points in 10th place, 11.096s from first.

Rins started from ninth and safely negotiated the chaotic first corners. After the opening lap, he settled in 11th place. On lap 3, he engaged in battle with Jack Miller, Enea Bastianini, and Fermin Aldeguer. The number 42 overtook Miller for tenth place, but as the scuffle continued, he was pushed down to 13th. While keen to retaliate, he ran wide and into the gravel in Turn 10 to avoid another rider. Although the Spaniard found himself in last place after rejoining, he still put his head down. He managed to pick up one position, closing the race in 18th, 24.661s from the winner.

Today's results keep Quartararo in 10th place in the overall standings with 59 points. Rins remains in joint-16th position with 31 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are now 7th in the team championship with 90 points, and Yamaha is in 5th position in the constructor championship with 89 points.

On the Italian GP Sunday, the teammates will start the track action with the Warm Up held from 09:40-09:50 (GMT+2), followed by the 23-lap Race starting at 14:00.

"It's been a mixed day. While our qualifying results were decent, as we did expect to be on the second and third row, the Sprint was tough. Neither Fabio nor Álex had the feeling needed to defend their positions. The bike started behaving differently in the very hot conditions this afternoon, and both riders suffered from a lack of grip and vibrations. On top of this, Álex went into the gravel to avoid crashing into another rider, which lost him some ground. We will analyse today's data carefully to see where we have a margin for improvement for tomorrow."

"I expected worse. Since yesterday the pain has been constant. I woke up feeling worse than yesterday, but I'm quite okay. Let's see what we can do tomorrow, but today's performance was not due to my shoulder's condition. We had a problem with chatter, and it will be interesting to understand why we have this only during races. We're getting better, but we still have to improve."

"I was trying to overtake Jack in corner 10, and I was there, on the limit, and I almost crashed into him. I went wide to avoid impact, but after that small incident I was struggling today in the Sprint. I didn't have a good feeling in the race, but I did during Q2. Everybody went super fast in qualifying. I did a 1'44.8s, which was a good lap time. I improved my personal best lap time at Mugello by around 0.4s, so I'm quite happy about this. I'm starting from ninth again tomorrow – let's see what we can do!"
