Sepang (Malaysia), 25 October 2025
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team used the Grand Prix of Malaysia Saturday to collect further race-weekend setting data for the V4-Powered Prototype. Augusto Fernández was riding competitively in the opening lap of the Sprint and ended the 10-lap dash in P19.

Augusto Fernández commenced from P23 and managed to make up two positions overtaking Michele Pirro and Somkiat Chantra. But the gain was short-lived. While the number-7 was chasing Lorenzo Savadori, Chantra made a comeback on lap 5. The Yamaha test rider then focused on collecting further data for the Yamaha engineers. Through the misfortunes of others, he still climbed up to P19, taking the chequered flag 25.412s from the winner.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will be back in action tomorrow* for Warm Up, held from 10:40-10:50 (GMT+8), and the 20-lap Race, which starts at 15:00.

*On Sunday, October 26th, daylight saving time will start in Europe. The clocks in Malaysia do not change, increasing the time difference between Malaysia and Europe by one hour for the Sunday.

"Today, we started to understand the right direction again. We improved quite a lot compared to yesterday. We verified some of our findings in Misano, and we are also seeing some positives while trying to find a base. We need to keep working. It's important to do all the laps tomorrow and ride on used tyres too. Let's see what we can do tomorrow, but we do have a clear direction to work towards."
