The Yamaha Factory Racing Team continued their testing programme on the Saturday of the Grand Prix of Aragon. Wild-card entry Augusto Fernández was battling with fellow Yamaha riders and riding in P15 when his challenge came to a premature end on lap 9 due to a technical issue.
Alcañiz (Spain), 7th June 2025
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team used the Grand Prix of Aragon Saturday sessions to collect further data and analyse prototype parts. Augusto Fernández was riding competitively in the 11-lap Sprint but was unable to finish, however, due to a technical issue.

Augusto Fernández started from P18 and held steady in opening stages, passing Miguel Oliveira and only being overtaken by Marco Bezzecchi. When Joan Mir crashed out on the second lap, the Yamaha test rider moved up to 17th place. He was riding directly behind Álex Rins, allowing him to observe closely. With 7 laps to go, he decided to make a move and overtook the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider. As Jack Miller completed a long-lap penalty one lap later, Augusto Fernández got up to 15th. He then tried to chase down Johann Zarco, but a technical issue on lap 9 ended his race prematurely.

Today's results keep Augusto Fernández in 22nd in the championship standings with 3 points (secured at the Grand Prix of The Americas when he replaced Oliveira for the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team). Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are 6th in the team championship with 85 points, and Yamaha is in 5th position in the constructor championship with 84 points.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will be back in action tomorrow for Warm Up, held from 09:40-09:50 (GMT+2), and the 23-lap Race, which starts at 14:00.

"I was feeling good riding with the 'Yamaha pack'. This was my personal goal for the weekend, and I'm feeling good on the pace and everything. To be able to be close to them was very positive, and also in terms of the feeling on the bike it was good. I struggled a bit in qualifying. Finding my time-attack mode after one month off was tough. But during the Sprint I went right back to my good race-pace feeling. I felt good all weekend in terms of pace. It's a shame the way the Sprint ended for me today, but we still have tomorrow. Hopefully we can have a good Race."
