Misano Adriatico (Italy), 12th September 2025
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team have started their V4-Powered Prototype testing plan at the Grand Prix of San Marino. Augusto Fernández has a clear goal for this weekend: this wild-card entry is specifically aimed at data gathering in a GP setting to aid bike development. He wrapped up today's Practice in 19th place, putting him on the entry list for tomorrow's Q1.

After some ups and downs in the FP1 session, which he finished in 21st place, the Spanish rider was keen to gather more data in the 1-hour Practice session. The Yamaha Factory Racing Team made steps according to their testing plan, and Fernández completed 20 laps in total. Following diligent work, the number-7 rider started climbing the rankings during the time attacks section of the outing until an unlucky crash halted his progress. Despite not being able to push further, his 1'31.678s, set on lap 18/20, kept him in 19th place in the Practice results, 1.198s from first.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will continue their testing programme during the Saturday MotoGP sessions: FP2 will be held from 10:10-10:40 local track time (GMT+2), followed by the qualifying sessions from 10:50-11:30, and the 13-lap Sprint, which starts at 15:00.

"It was a positive day – a busy one, but a positive one in the end. We had a small issue with a safety sensor in the morning, but it was nothing serious, so we could continue with the work like we had planned. It was like a test day: we made some big changes on the bike, and it worked. We didn't know what to expect in terms of lap times going into this weekend. I was hoping to be competitive so I could have fun battling in the races this weekend, but we are here to improve the V4-Powered Prototype bike. In the end, we have both: we are competitive and are improving the feeling on the bike. I made a small mistake on the second time attack. This was the first time we did a real time attack on this bike, and I felt good on the second tyre, but I pushed too much."
