The Grand Prix of Germany MotoGP Race turned into a survival of the fittest. Despite perfectly dry riding conditions at the Sachsenring, various riders got caught out by the track's tricky nature, particularly in the notorious Turn 1. The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP teammates soldiered on, however. Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins rode faultlessly, and their tenacity was rewarded with a fourth and tenth place respectively.
Chemnitz (Germany), 13th July 2025
The Grand Prix of Germany became a true test of endurance and skill for the premier class field. Although the MotoGP Race at the Sachsenring was held in the dry, only 10 out of 18 riders made it to the chequered flag. The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP duo were amongst the 'survivors'. Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins steadily rode their own races. They finished in fourth and tenth place respectively.

With Franco Morbidelli retiring from the German GP following yesterday's crash in the Sprint, Quartararo and Rins moved up a position on the starting grid of the Race. They would commence the 30-lap battle from P6 and P16 respectively.

Quartararo lost some positions as the riders all dashed into the first few corners. He settled in eighth place but was overtaken by Jack Miller on lap 2. When a first rival crashed on lap 4, the Frenchman was in eighth place stalking Miller, whom he overtook on lap 9. The number 20 then struggled to close the over 1s gap to Johann Zarco but did manage to gradually stretch away from his pursuers, holding seventh. In the second half of the race, three riders crashed in Turn 1 in short succession in individual incidents. El Diablo benefitted, moving up to fourth. But with 7 laps to go, Fermin Aldeguer started to close in on him, threatening his position. The Yamaha man defended well and crossed the finish line in fourth place, 18.738s from the winner.

Rins emerged from the busy opening corners in 16th place. Though he was overtaken by Ai Ogura, the Spaniard still moved up to 15th on lap 4 due to two rivals crashing ahead of him. It soon became a lonely ride for the number-42 rider and he focused on his rhythm. With five more riders ahead of him crashing out of the race, the Spaniard brought home his M1 in 10th place, 39.419s from first, earning 6 championship points.

After today's results, Quartararo is in 10th place in the overall standings with 87 points, and Rins is in 18th position with 41 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are 6th in the team championship with 128 points, and Yamaha is in 5th position in the constructor championship with 118 points.

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team will be back in action next week for the Grand Prix of Czechia, which will be held at the Automotodrom Brno from 18-20 July.

"Today's Race was a testament to how tricky this track is and showcased the perseverance of our riders. Fabio didn't have the start he had yesterday, but he did manage a strong recovery and managed to achieve the maximum results that we could get here this week with our current package. It's true that he capitalised on rivals' mistakes to secure fourth place, but his solid riding in the final laps was a great display of his defensive riding skills. Álex didn't have the feeling he was looking for today as well as this entire weekend. Luckily, we will be back on track in a few days' time already in Brno, where the team will work on helping him rebuild his confidence."

"Tricky conditions today – and I think the grip was a bit less, though for me the conditions of the track were okay. Four riders crashed in front of us, so maybe this fourth place is not a 'realistic representation' of how our race went. I didn't really feel great from the first lap to the end, so that's also why I can't really be too happy about today. I didn't make any mistakes, but our lap times were not as good as I wanted them to be, and I finished quite far from the leader."

"It was not a normal weekend for us. This GP was hard. The problems we faced on Friday continued. Today, in the first 3-4 laps of the Race, I was able to ride with Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez, but then, as soon as they started to push more, I wasn't able to follow them. The other Yamahas don't seem to have this problem, but I couldn't be faster. We will continue to try to understand how we can improve this in Brno."
