Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Return to Action in Spielberg

After a three-week summer break, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team are gearing up for the second half of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. Teammates Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins reunite in Spielberg, Austria for Round 13.
Spielberg (Austria), 13th August 2025
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team are full of energy and ready to resume the 2025 MotoGP racing action, starting at the Spielberg circuit in Austria this weekend. The Grand Prix of Austria is always a round that the team look forward to due to its great location and atmosphere.

With five double headers (ten GPs overall) over the course of the next 13.5 weeks, Fabio Quartararo has made sure to stay on top of his training during the summer break besides relaxing and recharging. He arrives in Austria in ninth place in the championship. Though the Spielberg circuit isn't considered a 'Yamaha track', the Frenchman has scored multiple premier class podiums there. He secured third place in Austria on his YZR-M1 in 2019, repeated the feat in the 2021 Styrian GP, and took a second place in Spielberg in 2022.

Álex Rins has had a productive and relaxing summer break. He spent the three weeks with his family, and he also got a fair share of training in at the gym as well as at different tracks, practising various racing disciplines before stepping back aboard the M1. The Spaniard is currently in 18th position in the overall classification and keen to score points in the Austrian GP races. He stood on the podium there once in 2016 for a third place in Moto2. His best MotoGP result in Spielberg is sixth place.

The Spielberg circuit was constructed in 1969 and was rebuilt in 1996 to the track's current layout. It hosted two Austrian GPs in the 90s and staged its return to MotoGP Grand Prix racing after nineteen years in 2016. It has been a fixture on the MotoGP calendar since, even hosting two consecutive GPs (Austrian GP and Styrian GP) in both 2020 and 2021. The track has a special character with only eleven turns in total (three left and eight right) and multiple long straights, the longest measuring 810m. The circuit's design puts the emphasis on top speed, acceleration, and braking stability, offering the riders plenty of opportunities to fully open the throttle.

"MotoGP fans will be thrilled to see the MotoGP championship return for the second half of the season – there's no doubt they've missed the adrenaline and excitement of motor racing. And what better place to kick things off than Austria? The team always enjoys coming to Spielberg: it's a stunning venue with a great atmosphere and a passionate crowd. Our crew and Yamaha engineers are fully recharged and ready to dive into what promises to be a demanding five double headers. While Spielberg may not traditionally play to Yamaha's strengths on paper, we're approaching the weekend with determination. We're here to give it everything again."

"I really enjoyed the summer break, relaxing with my friends and family – and, of course, I still did my usual training. The last three weeks were a good opportunity to recharge because we know the second half of the season is very busy. We know our strengths and weaknesses, and we will continue to work really hard in the next 10 GPs on finding improvements. I feel ready to give it my 100%, as always. Let's see what we can do this weekend."

"I had a good summer break – some time to recharge, train, and prepare for the second half of the season. Like I said in Brno, improving qualifying is a priority for us, so that's one of the areas we'll concentrate on this weekend. Other than that, Spielberg has a eleven-corner layout with hard braking zones, so braking stability and acceleration will be other key areas that are especially important this weekend."
