Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Back on the Throttle in Brno
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team have travelled from the Sachsenring in Germany to the Automotodrom Brno in Czechia for Round 12 on the MotoGP calendar – the last Grand Prix before the three-week summer break.
Brno (Czech Republic), 16th July 2025
Fresh from the German GP, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins arrive at the Automotodrom Brno, excited to be racing at this iconic track again. The Grand Prix of Czechia makes a reappearance on the MotoGP calendar for the first time since 2020, giving the teammates an extra incentive to put on a good show.
The changing grip levels during the wet German GP Sprint and the dry Race last weekend made these races tests of riding skills. Quartararo passed them, taking third and fourth place respectively, and arrives in Brno holding 10th place in the championship standings. He is hoping to keep the momentum going and score some solid points again this weekend. The Frenchman rode twice before at the Czech track in the premier class: in 2019 and 2020, scoring seventh place in both races.
Rins is looking forward to returning to the Czechia round, which is beloved by many MotoGP riders. After a tough German GP outing, the Spaniard is currently in 18th place in the MotoGP classifications and keen to leave last weekend behind him and focus on the task ahead. He has ridden at the Czech Republic track two weeks ago during the private test, which means he has his base set-up in place already. The number 42 stood on the Brno Moto2 podium in 2015 for a third place and in 2016 for a second place. His best MotoGP scores there are the fourth places he achieved in 2019 and 2020.
The Czech GP was first held on public roads in Brno in 1950 and became part of the World Grand Prix Championship from 1965 to 1982 until a circuit was built during the 1980s. In 1987 the modern Brno track (with a 5.4km layout, including 6 left and 8 right corners) hosted its first FIM Czech Grand Prix, which soon became popular with both fans and riders thanks to its great atmosphere and location. After a short absence from 2021-2024, Brno is back on the calendar, so MotoGP fans can once again enjoy this track that is steeped in racing heritage.
This weekend Augusto Fernández joins the Yamaha line-up again. He will spearhead the Yamaha Factory Racing Team as a wild-card rider during Round 12 of the 2025 FIM MotoGP World Championship.
