The Yamaha Factory Racing Team kicked off their testing programme at the Grand Prix of Czechia today in wetter conditions than originally anticipated. However, wild-card entry Augusto Fernández made the most of the available track time to boost the Yamaha M1's development. He finished the Friday Practice session in 18th place.
Brno (Czech Republic), 18th July 2025
Due to unexpected rain at the Automotodrom Brno, the Yamaha Factory Racing Team had to slightly amend their testing plans for the first day of the Grand Prix of Czechia weekend. Augusto Fernández' goal for the day remained unchanged, however. The wild-card entry continued bike development for the 2025 M1 by testing prototype items in a race-weekend setting. He wrapped up today's Practice in 18th place, putting him on the entry list for tomorrow's Q1.

After ending this morning's mixed FP1 in a positive 13th place, the Spanish rider was keen to gather more dry data, but alas the track was soaked before the Practice session. The Yamaha Factory Racing Team adapted their testing plan for the 1-hour afternoon outing accordingly, and Fernández completed 21 laps. He clocked a 2'05.799s on lap 14, which put him in 18th place in the Practice results, 1.864s from first.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will continue their testing programme during the Saturday MotoGP sessions: FP2 will be held from 10:10-10:40 local track time (GMT+2), followed by the qualifying sessions from 10:50-11:30, and the 10-lap Sprint, which starts at 15:00.

"It was hard to come back on a day like today and, honestly, today's conditions made it hard to test anything. We tried to use the last minutes of FP1, with the slicks, to check some things, but we can't tell anything from that data yet, so we need to collect more. Let's see what the conditions are like tomorrow morning. We will try what we need to try and then focus on the weekend: the Sprint and the Race. Let's see if I can get on the pace. I need some more dry laps because this track is new to me with a MotoGP bike. Let's see if I can enjoy the races, riding in a group."
