The Yamaha Factory Racing Team continued their testing programme on a dry Saturday at the Automotodrom Brno. In perfect racing conditions, wild-card entry Augusto Fernández started the 10-lap dash from P22. He was battling with various rivals when an unexpected crash on lap 2 ended his run early.
Brno (Czech Republic), 19th July 2025
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team had planned on using the dry Grand Prix of Czechia Saturday to collect further data and analyse prototype parts. Augusto Fernández was riding competitively in the opening stages of the Sprint, but an unfortunate crash ended his mission.

Fernández commenced from P22. He made up some positions in the opening lap but ran wide and then slotted into 21st place. He was keen to keep riding in the group, but his challenge faltered when he crashed going into Turn 3 on lap 2, taking Takaaki Nakagami with him. Though the Spaniard was unhurt, he was unable to rejoin the Sprint. He looks forward to trying again tomorrow.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will be back in action tomorrow for Warm Up, held from 09:40-09:50 (GMT+2), and the 21-lap Race, which starts at 14:00.

"First of all, I want to say 'Sorry' to Takaaki Nakagami and also to my team, because it was my mistake. The riders ahead of me braked earlier than I expected, and I got sucked in by the slipstream. I knew I was going to have contact with Taka, so I tried to put the bike on the ground before the impact to make it smoother. All in all, it was a hard day. Because we had no dry track time yesterday, we had to do everything this morning. Still, I wasn't super far. Even though I'm last on the grid, I was about 1s from Fabio's qualifying lap, which is not so bad on a 2-minute track. I felt confident I could do a good Sprint race, or at least get some information for tomorrow, but it ended early for me. Sorry again to Taka. I hope he's okay for tomorrow. Let's see if I can have a stable Race, finish it, and collect the information we need."
