The Yamaha Factory Racing Team used the Grand Prix of Czechia Sunday to collect more valuable dry-track data at the Automotodrom Brno. Wild-card entry Augusto Fernández maintained a steady pace in the 21-lap MotoGP Race and held 18th place across the finish line.
Brno (Czech Republic), 20th July 2025
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team accelerated their testing programme in today's Grand Prix of Czechia MotoGP Race. The goal was to gather data over a full race distance. Wild-card entry Augusto Fernández wrapped up the 21-lap contest in 18th place.

Augusto Fernández started from P21, as Takaaki Nakagami had retired from the Czech GP following yesterday's crash involving the Yamaha test rider. The number 7 was given a long-lap penalty as a result, which he was quick to perform on lap 2 whilst holding 21st place. It had him rejoin the race with an over 2s gap to the riders ahead. However, various rivals' crashes allowed him to still move up the order. The wild card focused on gathering good data for bike development purposes, and by doing so the gap to the rider in 17th place was closed down to 0.670s at the finish line. Augusto Fernández crossed it in 18th place, 28.310s from first.

Today's results see Augusto Fernández in 24th place in the championship standings with 6 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are 6th in the team championship with 144 points, and Yamaha is in 5th position in the constructor championship with 133 points.

"I was riding alone quite early on, and I was riding well in today's Race. I was happy with my speed and that I was able to catch up with the group ahead of me. At the start of the race weekend it was hard to be on the pace, so I am pleased to be more or less on the same level as the others today. I'm also happy with my best race lap. Fabio's best lap was still about 0.5s faster than mine – but I'm there. We got good information from doing this race after my mistake yesterday, so this is important. We will keep working, and I am enjoying the process."
