Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Álex Rins had his work cut out for him in today's Grand Prix of the Netherlands Sprint. The Spaniard started from P19 in the busy mid-pack and, after an eventful 13 laps, finished in 15th place. Fabio Quartararo was determined to push 100% from pole, but a crash in Turn 10 on lap 10 ended his challenge for a place on the podium.
TT Circuit Assen (the Netherlands), 28th June 2025
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team faced a difficult outing in today's Grand Prix of the Netherlands Sprint. Álex Rins spent the 13-lap dash battling with various riders and ultimately took 15th place. Fabio Quartararo was fighting for third place when, with four laps to go, he suffered an unexpected crash in Turn 10, ending his run.

Rins battled through a busy mid-pack after starting 19th, gaining four positions on the opening lap. But after engaging in battle with Enea Bastianini, he was moved to 16th, before dropping to 19th on lap 4. He quickly regrouped, however, passing Aleix Espargaró, Ai Ogura, and a few laps later Lorenzo Savadori. With his teammate out, Rins settled into 15th. He held the position to the flag, finishing 15.990s from the winner.

Quartararo took his 4th pole of 2025 – his 20th with Yamaha – and grabbed the holeshot in the Sprint, fending off Marc Marquez. He led the opening lap until a wobble at the final chicane lost him some momentum, allowing the Marquez brothers through. El Diablo tried to stay with them, but he also had to ward off approaching riders. Holding fourth and fighting for a podium spot, his charge ended four laps from the finish in an unlucky crash in Turn 10. Unhurt, he's already focused on tomorrow's Race.

Today's results keep Quartararo in 10th place in the overall standings with 61 points. Rins is in joint-17th position with 32 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are 7th in the team championship with 93 points, and Yamaha is in 5th position in the constructor championship with 92 points.

On the Dutch GP Sunday, the teammates will start the track action with the Warm Up held from 09:40-09:50 (GMT+2), followed by the 26-lap Race starting at 14:00.

"It was a tough Sprint for us today, and we all feel especially disappointed for Fabio, who put up a good fight at the start. Álex's Sprint was always going to be tricky, starting from P19. He and Fabio were riding with a used front tyre to save a fresh soft for tomorrow. Álex had a good start, then lost some ground, but also recovered positions. Fabio's pole was a great highlight, and he got away well, leading early on. Unfortunately, an unexpected crash cost him a chance to fight for the Sprint podium today. Thankfully he's okay, and we're all motivated to come back stronger for tomorrow's Grand Prix."

"The day was not bad, but we struggled a lot to complete a clear lap during qualifying, and due to this I started from P19. We started the Sprint in a good way. I recovered some positions. I started with a used front tyre so we could keep one soft for tomorrow in case it's cloudy. The Sprint became a little tricky because the rear tyre had more grip than the front and was pushing a little bit. I got stuck behind Miller and couldn't overtake him. Apart from that, it was acceptable. My pace was not bad, so let's see what we can do tomorrow. It will be difficult starting from P19 again, but at least I can try to enjoy the overtakes."

"I don't think I crashed because I was riding with a used front tyre, but of course it didn't help during this Sprint race either, but we had to ride with a used tyre if we wanted to keep one soft ready for tomorrow. There was a really light contact between Marc and me. I saw someone riding on the outside and I closed the line because I wanted to keep the position, give it my maximum, and battle. I was pushing like every single lap was a time attack, but we lose time on the straights. We have the speed, but speed and fighting with other riders are two different things. But we're a team, and we are all working together to make it the best situation possible."
