Quartararo and Rins Take P10 and P13 in Challenging TT Assen Race

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins were on the receiving end of some chaos in the opening stages of today's 26-lap Grand Prix of the Netherlands Race. Nevertheless, they pushed on to make up lost ground and crossed the finish line in 10th and 13th place respectively.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins got caught up in race incidents during today's Grand Prix of the Netherlands Race. Despite the disruption, both riders remained focused and worked hard to recover positions. They ultimately finished the Race in 10th and 13th place respectively.
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP riders were sporting a special livery today to mark Yamaha's 70th anniversary, representing both the companies' proud racing heritage as well as the two teams' united effort in the premier class.
Starting from pole, Quartararo didn't have the best of openings and gradually was relegated to seventh place over the course of the first two laps. Unable to stay with the front group, the number 20 came under pressure from charging riders and was passed first by Maverick Viñales on lap 5, and, when Alex Marquez crashed a lap later, also by Fermin Aldeguer. Shortly after, an evasive manoeuvre to avoid a collision with Aldeguer who crashed in front of him cost El Diablo further positions, and he rejoined the track ranking 13th. The Frenchman didn't ease off though. He was able to catch Joan Zarco and put in an overtake on lap 13. He then closed the gap to the three riders fighting for ninth. With 8 laps to go he overtook Jack Miller, and Brad Binder followed three laps later. The number-20 rider spent the final laps stuck behind Enea Bastianini and finished in 10th position, 23.743s from first.
Rins started from P18 and was keen to push. However, Assen always produces eventful races, and today's 26-lap dash was no exception. While a rider tussle ahead of the Yamaha rider caused him to lose places on the first lap, further incidents involving rivals also had him climb up to 14th. The Spaniard had clear space ahead of him, which allowed him to focus on his race pace. Setting personal best laps in the mid-way stage, he gradually approached Miller and Zarco. With 3 laps to go, he had cleared them both. He tried to overtake Binder next but instead lost a position just before the finish line. The number 42 took the chequered flag in 13th place, 24.882s from the winner.
After today's results Quartararo is in 11th place in the overall standings with 67 points. Rins is in17th position with 35 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are joint 7th in the team championship with 102 points, and Yamaha is in 5th position in the constructor championship with 98 points.
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team will be back in action in two weeks' time for the Grand Prix of Germany which will be held at the Sachsenring from 11-13 July.
