Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Ready to Show Some Moves in Mandalika

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins made their way from Japan to a fan meet-and-greet stopover in Taiwan to ultimately touch down in Indonesia for Round 18 of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. Mandalika is a rider favourite thanks to its stunning location, exciting track, and the incredibly passionate local fans.
Mandalika (Indonesia), 1st October 2025
Following a fan meet & greet in Taiwan after the Japanese GP, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins have travelled to the Mandalika International Circuit for this weekend's Grand Prix of Indonesia, Round 18 of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.

Quartararo is full of energy after meeting the Taiwanese fans as well as the Indonesian fans welcoming him at the airport. He arrives in Mandalika interested to see what progress he can book at this track. He has good memories of racing here: he scored a second place in 2022 and third place in 2023. He is hoping to get a good result again this time round and impress his large Indonesian fanbase.

Rins also fully enjoyed meeting the Taiwanese and Indonesian fans, giving him an extra boost heading into the race weekend. He is keen to pick up work where he left off in Motegi, building further onto his findings from the Japanese GP. He also likes the Mandalika circuit. His best MotoGP result here is the fifth place he scored in 2022.

The 4.310km Mandalika International Circuit was built on Lombok Island and is surrounded by tropical views. The track was added to the MotoGP calendar in 2022, so the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP riders have ridden here just three times before. The longest straight is 723m, and its layout includes 11 right and 6 left corners – many of them fast - giving the riders plenty of opportunities to overtake and allowing speed aficionados to get their kicks at this track.

The Grand Prix of Indonesia is held in the GMT+8 time zone. The FP1 will take place on Friday 10:45-11:30 local track time, followed by the Practice session from 15:00-16:00. On Saturday, FP2 will be held from 10:10-10:40, the qualifying sessions from 10:50-11:30, and the 13-lap Sprint starts at 15:00. On Sunday, Warm Up is held from 10:40-10:50 and the 27-lap Race starts at 15:00.

"We have made our way from Motegi to Mandalika. The Japanese GP weekend was neither extremely good nor bad. Overall, grip issues made it hard work for our riders. We are interested to see how we will fare at a completely different track. Mandalika is a track with high grip levels, and it's a circuit that our riders enjoy. The Indonesian fans are also extremely passionate and that only adds to the appeal of the event, which is already held at a beautifully situated venue. That said, it will be a weekend of hard work. The whole team is fully motivated to be competitive."

"I had a great time in Taiwan, and I feel ready to go back to work. I think Indonesia could be a good track for us. Last weekend in Motegi, we had a lack of grip, so it was difficult to fight. Let's see what it will be like in Mandalika, where we will be riding with a different tyre. I think Indonesia could be a track where we could get some positive results. I don't really like talking big talk before a GP weekend, but I think we can make a good qualifying and good races here. I'm not sure about the possible results, but if I had to choose a track where we can have some fun races, it's this one."

"We had a pretty decent weekend in Motegi. We noticed some improvements, but I think at a track like Mandalika, which has a very different character, we can do even better. Meeting the fans in Taiwan was a nice boost. I also always enjoy visiting Indonesia because the local fans here are fantastic too. I hope this weekend we can get involved in some nice battles and make the races super exciting for the crowds."
